UbicMedia set to introduce its PUMit® digital film distribution tool to the North American market
NEW YORK DOLL, CASH CROP, THE WELCOME AND CACTUS THREE TO USE THE POWER OF PUMIT FOR DIRECT TO FAN CAMPAIGNS THIS FALL.
Digital distribution tool PUMit will power direct to fan campaigns for three critically acclaimed documentaries, as well as an award-winning production and distribution company this fall. CASH CROP, NEW YORK DOLL, and THE WELCOME will harness the power of the web and social networking to reach beyond their core audiences. Cactus Three is enhancing their website by offering their own documentary store.
PUMit is a new file-based technology that allows filmmakers and rights holders to distribute their films via a simple movie link that can be placed anywhere on the web, including social networks, websites, or blogs, as well as shared via email. A secure payment gateway accompanies each link, enabling filmmakers to collect payments for digital views, which are deposited directly into their PayPal account.
NEW YORK DOLL
Directed by Greg Whiteley

NEW YORK DOLL documents the ups and downs of bass guitarist Arthur “Killer” Kane of the glam-rock-punk band The New York Dolls. Whiteley offers a portrait of Kane’s life in music, how faith came into his life, and his unexpected return to the rock & roll stage at the age of 55. From the band’s formation in 1972 to the drug problems and the deaths of several of its members, NEW YORK DOLL captures an inside look into the history of one New York’s seminal rock bands.
A darling of the 2005 Sundance Film Festival, NEW YORK DOLL received a limited theatrical and DVD release but never made it to many of the major digital platforms. Utilizing PUMit, the film will now have the opportunity to be seen by a new music-loving, tech-savvy audience. The filmmakers have tapped into the large reserve of New York Dolls fans, including a number of celebrities who are helping to promote the PUMit link to their followers online. Using PUMit’s seamless integration with Facebook, NEW YORK DOLL will be promoted via fan pages, as well as blogs, twitter, and newsletters across the web.
Fans of the New York Dolls official Facebook page, will have the first opportunity to see a deluxe version of the film with rare performance footage and an interview with musician and Dolls fan Morrissey.
Fans will also have the opportunity to share the film and win prizes with the New York Doll Super Fan contest. Using PUMit’s proprietary technology, Super Fans will receive their own personalized PUMit link. Contestants will be rewarded based on the number of purchases they can generate from those links.
CASH CROP
Directed by Adam Ross

www.facebook.com/cashcropmovie
Undercover for a year and a half, musician and award-winning filmmaker Adam Ross explores America’s #1 cash crop: marijuana. California is the world’s sixth largest economy and marijuana is its largest cash crop. Ross travels the length of the state in CASH CROP, taking the pulse of different cities and communities as they grapple with the agricultural demands, the mind-bogglingly robust economies, and the cultures surrounding weed.
CASH CROP received a limited theatrical release in 2010 but with PUMit it can expand its audience exponentially. The film, which has been updated to reflect the latest developments in the fight to legalize marijuana, is currently being promoted by like-minded organizations around the country in an affiliate program that allows them to use CASH CROP as a fundraiser. The film link will be included in each organization’s email blast, on their websites, Facebook fan pages, and other social media websites. In addition, CASH CROP is using PUMit to expand sales of the film via its website and Facebook page.
THE WELCOME
Directed by Kim Shelton

http://www.facebook.com/pages/The-Welcome/111486155606885
THE WELCOME offers a fiercely intimate view of life after war: the fear, anger and isolation of post-traumatic stress that affects vets and family members alike. As we join these vets in a small room for an unusual five-day healing retreat, we witness how the ruins of war can be transformed into the beauty of poetry.
After a successful festival run, THE WELCOME will have its digital premiere using PUMit. The film has partnered with The Soldiers Project, The National Veterans Foundation, and The Returning Vets Project to offer the film as a fundraiser. Facebook fans of THE WELCOME have an opportunity to choose which organization they’d like to support when purchasing the film. The filmmakers are also using PUMit to augment their DVD sales direct to fans from their website.
CACTUS THREE

Since its founding in 2003, Cactus Three has financed, produced and distributed some of the most acclaimed documentaries of the past decade including: “Devil’s Playground,” “loudQUIETloud: A Film About the Pixies,” “Sketches of Frank Gehry,” and “Waiting for Hockney,” among many others. In keeping with a growing trend in the independent film industry, Cactus Three is looking to build its own brand while also pursuing traditional distribution for its films. To that end, Cactus Three has added a documentary store powered by PUMit to its website and Facebook page. Currently, the store carries seven films from the Cactus Three library, including two new films, “Personal Best” and “Comrade Duch.” More films will be added over time.
