Friday August 28, 2009 THE WORLD RESEARCH FOUNDATION SAMUEL GOLDWYN THEATER, BEVERLY HILLS, CA MARY PICKFORD, THE MUSE OF THE MOVIES traces the life and work of the legendary film star, businesswoman and movie pioneer. Pickford’s life (1892-1979) also parallels the birth of cinema itself. Pickford co-created United Artists Studios, spearheaded the founding of the Academy of Motion Pictures Arts and Sciences, as well as established the Motion Picture Retirement Home. The documentary traces Pickford’s extraordinary life through restored vintage audio recordings allowing Pickford to “narrate” her own story along with actor Michael York. Classic film clips, rare home movies, and interviews with Adoph Zukor (founder of Paramount Studios), Amelia Earhart, Douglas Fairbanks Jr., Lillian Gish, and Buddy Rogers, as well as the only interview ever given by Pickford’s daughter, Roxanne Rogers Monroe, give the viewer an in-depth look at the life of a remarkable film legend and the early world of American cinema. Proceeds (via donation) from the screening will benefit The World Research Foundation. With worldwide locations including California, Arizona and Stuttgart Germany, the World Research Foundation serves as a repository for all health information from traditional and non-traditional sources.

The Final Destination Premiere
August 27, 2009 WARNER BROS. PICTURES GRAUMANS CHINESE THEATRE On what should have been a fun-filled day at the races, Nick O’Bannon (Bobby Campo) has a horrific premonition in which a bizarre sequence of events causes multiple race cars to crash, sending flaming debris into the stands, brutally killing his friends and causing the upper deck of the stands to collapse on him. When he comes out of this grisly nightmare, Nick panics, persuading his girlfriend, Lori (Shantel VanSanten), and their friends, Janet (Haley Webb) and Hunt (Nick Zano), to leave…escaping seconds before Nick’s frightening vision becomes a terrible reality. Thinking they’ve cheated death, the group has a new lease on life, but unfortunately for Nick and Lori, it is only the beginning. As his premonitions continue and the crash survivors begin to die one by one — in increasingly gruesome ways — Nick must figure out how to cheat death once and for all before he, too, reaches his final destination. The film marks the latest in the highly popular “Final Destination” series, and its first 3D installment, giving horror fans an especially visceral thrill ride. “The Final Destination” is directed by David R. Ellis (“Snakes on a Plane,” “Final Destination 2”) from a screenplay by Eric Bress (“The Butterfly Effect,” “Final Destination 2”). The film stars Bobby Campo (TV’s “Greek”), Shantel VanSanten (“You and I”), Nick Zano (“Beverly Hills Chihuahua”), Haley Webb (upcoming “In NorthWood”) and Mykelti Williamson (TV’s “CSI: NY”). The film is produced by Craig Perry and Warren Zide, with Richard Brener, Walter Hamada and Sheila Hanahan Taylor serving as executive producers. Art Schaefer co-produces. The behind-the-scenes creative team includes director of photography Glen MacPherson (“Rambo”), production designer Jaymes Hinkle (“Snakes on a Plane”), editor Mark Stevens (“The Number 23”), costume designer Claire Breaux (“The Substance of Things Hoped For”) and composer Brian Tyler (“Fast & Furious”).
