September 25, 2010 ELYSE WALKER DRAIS AT THE W HOLLYWOOD, HOLLYWOOD CA
The Pink Party is a benefit to raise awareness about gynecologic and breast cancers, and to support the Cedars-Sinai Women’s Cancer Research Institute (WCRI) at the Samuel Oschin Comprehensive Cancer Institute.
· The Pink Party was founded by Elyse Walker, owner of the Elyse Walker Boutique in the Pacific Palisades. The party brings together women, fashion, her loyal celebrity clientele and friends to help raise funds for research and greater awareness vital to encouraging early detection, new treatments and an end to cancer as a threat to women.
· The Cedars-Sinai Women’s Cancer Research Institute is under the direction of internationally renowned gynecologic oncologist and surgeon, Dr. Beth Karlan.
· Since its inception six years ago, the Pink Party has raised over five million dollars for cancer research.
· The 6th Annual Pink Party will feature a fashion show over the rooftop pool, showcasing looks from Stella McCartney, Roberto Cavalli, Brunello Cucinelli, Haute Hippie, Elizabeth & James and Blumarine.
· Every two minutes, an American woman is diagnosed with a gynecologic or breast cancer. That’s over 700 women who will be diagnosed just today and more than 260,000 women this year. In sum, these diseases will kill almost 70,000 women this year alone.
· If detected early, a majority of these cancers can be cured. Most women, however, are unfamiliar with the signs and symptoms of gynecologic cancers.
· Every effort to educate women about the signs and symptoms of these cancers and every effort to develop funding for research and treatment will help save women’s lives.
